Responsibilities include:
· Supervises and manages assigned exploration projects
· Participates in the conception and development of exploration programs and budgets (P&B) in liaison with Direct Reports and/or the Vice President, Exploration
· Liaises with the Technician, SHEQ Exploration to ensure that:
o Contracts are properly tendered in a timely manner
o Permits and/or work authorizations have been received and distributed before field work commences
o Acts as Contract Administrator, as required
· Conducts exploration programs in the field in accordance with the approved P&B. Exploration program responsibilities include:
o Supervises geologists, contract geologists, students and technicians; organizes, distributes and prioritizes tasks for an efficient and successful exploration program
o Ensures timely production of the required documents (geological, SHEQ), to be periodically presented to the Direct Report and the Vice President, Exploration
o Collects and interprets field and research data: to produce maps, sections, tables, etc., adding to the geological and geophysical understanding of the project(s)
o Ensures the work completed by contractors meets the terms of contract agreements and performs audits of contractor invoices to trace accountability of services performed
· Ensures the quality, pertinence, accuracy and the completeness of the data related to the project(s)
· Liaises with Orano Canada's Land Administrator to prepare the required documents in regard to submission of reports for assessment approval by government agencies
· Provides presentations of P&B and results and interpretations (i.e.: Joint Venture meetings)
· Develops a comprehensive understanding of the projects managed including the broader regional area, which will allow for informed decisions on staking/lapsing and strategy
· Responsible for maintaining positive working relationships with local communities
Work Location & Schedule:
· Saskatoon Corporate Office.
· Several weeks or months in exploration camps and mine sites, with a significant component during the winter months
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
· University degree in geology at a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) or Master's level (M.Sc.), combined with a minimum of 5 years’ mineral exploration experience (uranium preferred)
· Registered as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer with APEGS
· Must have experience in exploration project management involving diamond drill contractors
· Demonstrated background in computing geological and geochemical data and structural geology
· Good understanding of geophysical data
· Comfortable providing presentations to a variety of audiences
· Must be discovery oriented and motivated
· Provides mentorship and learning opportunities to peers
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team to foster and maintain good working relationships
· Prepared to work in difficult and isolated conditions
· Must be fit (physically and mentally) to work in remote locations with challenging terrain
