Vos missions

Orano looks continuously at opportunities to use material derived from its core nuclear energy activities. Nuclear medicine and Targeted Radionuclides Therapy (TRNT) appear very promising. Orano Subsidiary, Orano Med, is dedicated to the production of high quantities of lead-212 (212Pb), a rare alpha-emitting radioisotope and one of the more potent therapeutic payloads against cancer cells. Clinical studies are underway in partnership with different pharmaceutical companies.

In order to extend its portfolio of Radionuclides for medical applications, Orano is seeking a qualified radiochemist/radiobiologist to join the corporate R&D department on a full-time basis. The mission of this new position will be to develop scientific knowledge in partnership with academics and evaluate the potential for TRNT of some Auger electron emitters that have gathered increasing interest in recent years.

This mission involves assignment to the site of our R&D partner: the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Applied Diagnostics (LBIAD) in Vienna, Austria.

„The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Applied Diagnostics in Vienna, Austria (https://www.applied-diagnostics.at/), follows a new dual biomarker concept for tumor diagnosis. The focus of the institute lies on the development of non-invasive diagnostic methods combining molecular epigenetic and genetic signatures and molecular imaging biomarkers for PET and SPECT. The combination of these two methods will allow for improved functional, spatial and temporal assessment of tumor load and molecular tumor characterization.“

In this team of transdisciplinary scientists, academic and industrial partners from several countries, you will define and carry out preclinical programs related to new TRNT approaches to develop promising Auger emitter radiopharmaceutics. You will have to select the most relevant chelators and vector biomolecules to transport the radionuclide to the nucleus of tumor cells. You will perform all the experiments from radiolabelling and stability tests until in vitro and in vivo evaluations.

You will also be involved and will contribute to the global R&D programs on new TRNT in strong link with Orano R&D department, by regular reporting and communication. It involves also frequent interactions with other Orano academic partners network, especially CEA, INSERM and also with Orano industrial and R&D sites.
